Everything influences artistic expressions. An artist cannot help from being influenced, artistically speaking, from their experiences, lifestyle, and time period they live in. They are also influenced by who they are, what they're going through, where they live, and how they feel emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

For example, even gender effects artistic expressions. Do you think most men would design a webpage with balloons in the right column just because they think they are pretty and match the page?
